About Us

Nexus Communications, Inc., providing service under the name ReachOut Wireless™, provides Lifeline, a government assistance program that provides discounts on wireless service for qualified consumers. ReachOut Wireless™ offers a wireless services in place of older technologies like landline phone service.
To obtain ReachOut Wireless™ Lifeline service, potential subscribers must meet certain eligibility requirements such as receiving governmental assistance or a household income that is at or below 135% of the federal poverty level in most states. The specifics of what determines a potential subscriber's eligibility may vary somewhat by state. ReachOut Wireless™ service is limited to one per household, and cannot be combined with any other Lifeline offering. LifeLine benefits may not be transferred.
ReachOut Wireless™ government assisted wireless offering is part of the Lifeline program. The Lifeline Assistance program is only one part of the Universal Service Fund (USF) which exists to ensure that quality telecommunications services are available to low-income subscribers at just, reasonable and affordable rates. The Lifeline program provides a discount that make telephone service (and wireless service) more affordable for millions of Americans.
The USF is not a tax paid by U.S. taxpayers. Rather, the USF is funded by contributions by telecommunications carriers collected in part from the Universal Service Charge applicable to all forms of interstate telecommunication services. The wireline and wireless companies that provide Lifeline are approved to participate in the program of the USF for the revenue they forgo by providing discounted service to eligible consumers. ReachOut Wireless™ is also committed to the "Wireless Eligible Telecommunication Carrier Commitment to Best Practices".

How Much is the Lifeline Discount?

An eligible subscriber may receive the Lifeline discount on either a wireline or wireless connection, but the discount is available for only one telephone connection per household The monthly subsidy from the federal LifeLine program is $9.25 per month, but additional state funding may be available in some states. ReachOut Wireless™ offers the Lifeline monthly subsidy in the form of free minutes every month.
